Day 01
AIR PORT TO COLOMBO

Meet at the airport and you will be driven to Colombo & Check in the TINTAGEL HOTEL-Colombo.

In the evening do a City tour of Colombo.

Until recently Sri Lanka's capital, Colombo is a diverse blend of old colonial architecture and the modern high-rise buildings. From the grand old mansions of the by-gone era to the department stores and shady tree-lined boulevards of today, Colombo is able to satisfy everyone from the prince to the pauper. From golf courses to excellent shopping, dining, wining and entertainment venues you name it, Colombo has it! Afterwards back to the hotel.

Day 02
ANURADHAPURA

After breakfast proceed to Anuradhapura.

ANURADHAPURA

Anuradhapura is one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka, world famous for its well preserved ruins of the Great Sri Lankan Civilization. The Civilization which was built upon this city was one of the greatest civilizations of Asia and in the world. The city now a UNESCO heritage site lies 205 km (127 mi) north of the current capital Colombo in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka, on the banks of the historic MalvathuOya. Founded in the 4th century BC it was the capital of the Anuradhapura Kingdom till the beginning of the 11th century AC. During this period it remained one of the most stable and durable centers of political power and urban life in South Asia. It was also a wealthy city which created a unique culture and a great civilization. Today this ancient city of Sri Lanka, which is sacred to the Buddhist world, which its surrounding monasteries covers an area of over sixteen square miles ( 40 km²) and is one of the world's major archaeological sites.

ULLAGALLA RESORT

Day 03
SIGIRIYA & POLONNARUWA

After breakfast proceed to Sigiriya & climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress.

SIGIRIYA ROCK FORTRESS

Sigiriya Located a few hours' drive from Colombo, Sigiriya is a magnificent rock fortress built in the 5th century A.D. This majestic Citadel in the sky was the refuge of King Kasyapa and is world-renowned for its Mirror Wall', which consists of poems and paragraphs carved by some of the thousands of visitors who visited the rock many years ago, and for its magnificent frescoes, similar to the Ajantha frescoes of India.

Afterwards proceed to Polonnaruwa & visit Polonnaruwa historical city.

POLONNARUWA

If you thought Anuradhapura was unbeatable in terms of history and ruins well think again. Polonaruwa will just blow you away. It would take you awhile to fathom that such a city every existed many many years ago and after you return to your true senses the journey through this colossal city would be nothing less than magical. Polonnaruwa is Sri Lanka's second oldest kingdom and features a plethora of ruins and places of religious worship. Some of the many interesting places to visit in Polonnaruwa include the Gal Viharaya (Stone temple), Lankathilake, Tivanka Image House, NissankaLathaMandapaya, the Audience Hall and the Vatadage.

Day 04
DAMBULLA / SPICE GARDEN & KANDY

After breakfast proceed to Dambulla Rock Fortress.

DAMBULLA TEMPLE

Designated as a World Heritage site, the Dambulla Temple is located on a gigantic rock towering more than 160 m above the surrounding area. The Rock itself is more than 1.5 km around its base and summit is at 550 km. The caves on this rock were the refuge of King Walagamba when he was in exile for 14 years and feature a mixture of religious and worldly paintings and sculptures. Several reclining Buddha's which includes the 15 m long sculpture of the dying Buddha.

On completion proceed to Matale & visit SPICE GARDEN.

SPICE GARDEN

A Spice Garden in Matale and learn about the different spices of Sri Lanka and how it could be useful for day to day life.

Afterwards Proceed to Kandy & do a city tour of Kandy.

KANDY

Evening city tour of Kandy including a visit to the Sacred Temple of the Tooth, this will be followed by a cultural dance performance. The hill capital of Kandy lies picturesquely surrounded by mountains. Kandy features the most sacred of all Buddhist shrines the temple of the tooth or The Dalada Maligawa, which holds the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha. This is also the location in which the annual Esala Perahera, one of the most sought after events in the country takes place.

Day 5
PINNAWALA / PERADENIYA

Breakfast at Theva Residencies. Thereafter proceed to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.

PINNAWALA ELEPHANT ORPHANAGES

Features one of the biggest herds of captive elephants in the world. The Pinnawela herd today numbers nearly 71 and is easily one of the most popular tourist attractions in Sri Lanka. The main attraction at Pinnawela is watching the elephants walking down to the river twice a day to have their bath. Feeding time for baby elephants is also a very popular time to visit the orphanage.

Evening back to Kandy & visit Peradeniya Botanical Garden.

PERDENIYA BOTANICAL GARDEN

The history of the Royal Botanic Gardens dates as far back as 1371 when King Wickramabahu III ascended the throne and kept court at Peradeniya near Mahaweli Ganga. Later, in the reign of King Kirti Sri Rajasinghe from 1747 to 1780 this was made a Royal Garden and from 1780 – 1798 King RajadhiRajasinghe resided therein, where a temporary residence was erected for him.

Day 6
NUWARA ELIYA

After breakfast proceed to Nuwara Eliya.

NUWARA ELIYA

Nuwara Eliya also known as 'Little' England', was the favorite hill station of the British who tried to create Nuwara Eliya into a typical English Village. The old brick Post office, country house like hill club, with it's hunting pictures, mounted hunting trophies and fish, and it's strict formal dinner attire; the 18 hole golf course, race course etc., all remind you of 'England'.

YALA NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast proceed to Yala & do a safari of YALA NATIONAL PARK.

YALA NATIONAL PARK

The Yala National Park in the southern Sri Lanka has the world's highest concentration of leopards. Much of the nature reserve is parkland, but it also includes jungle, beaches, freshwater lakes and rivers and scrubland. In addition to leopards the Yala National Park is also home to substantial numbers of elephants, crocodile, wild boar, water buffalo, grey langurs and many more varieties of large animals. But that's not all; the park is also home to birds of prey such as the white-bellied sea eagles, waders, painted Storks, the Indian peafowl and the Sri Lanka jungle fowl.

Amanwella

After breakfast proceed to the breathtaking Amanwella resort in Tangalle.

Rest of the day relax at the peaceful & tranquil resort facing the mighty Indian Ocean.

The resort is accessed via a gravel road that opens onto a pebbled courtyard and entrance pavilion. An ascending colonnade leads to the public areas. The reception is on the left while to the right are two grassy courtyards separated by the Library and a reflecting pool. Beyond one courtyard is the Lounge Bar and adjacent to the other is the Restaurant. Sri Lanka's most notable modern architect, Geoffrey Bawa, has informed the design and aesthetic of Amanwella in the use of traditional materials that create a retreat along the south coast's rugged terrain.

AMANWELLA TANGALLE

Amanwella is situated in a mature coconut grove fronting a crescent-shaped beach close to the fishing town of Tangalle in southern Sri Lanka. The resort derives its name by combining the words aman, or "peace" in Sanskrit, and wella, the Sinhalese name for "beach". All 30 suites of this contemporary beachfront resort feature their own plunge pool and terrace. Linked by pathways, suites are interspersed along the hillside to the west of the public areas, providing views of the ocean and beach flanked by two rocky headlands.
